What is the Consular Forum?

The Houston Consular Forum stands as the City’s premier, white-tie event, recognizing members of the nation’s third-largest consular corps and celebrating the rich diversity that makes Houston such a unique and powerful player on the global stage. Taking place on October 18, 2014, at the George R. Brown Convention Center, the event celebrates the spirit of innovation, vitality, and global participation by bringing together leaders in our diplomatic and political community, titans of business, and executives in the fields of education, culture and the arts. The gathering offers attendees an unparalleled opportunity to interact and network with various individuals who collectively drive the growth of Houston’s economy and its ever-increasing position in the global marketplace.

Volunteer Info

When is the 2014 Consular Forum and where will it be held?

The Consular Forum will take place Oct. 18th at 6pm at the GRB Convention Center in Houston

What will volunteers be doing?

Volunteers will assist in silent auction setup, ballroom setup, and flag setup (for the morning shift, 9:30a-4:30p). For the evening shift (4:00p-11:30p), volunteers will assist in registration, auction activities, consular corps grand march, and photo assistants. What should I wear to the event?

Volunteers at the morning shift are welcome to wear casual clothing (t-shirts, activewear, etc.). For volunteers at the evening shift, please note this is a “White Tie” formalwear event. However, it is perfectly acceptable for volunteers to wear less formal attire, defined as dark suits and ties for men, and floor length formal gowns for women. Foreign dignitaries and city officials will be present, so dress to impress!

Will there be food?

Yes! Volunteers for the morning shift will be served a lunch. A buffet dinner will be provided for evening shift volunteers.
